Gabriel Romero
With talent, good looks, and a commanding voice, Latino actor Gabriel Romero will have you quickly under his spell. Romero, who recently starred in the critically acclaimed Spanish-language sitcom, “Los Beltrán,” is one of Hollywood’s rising new Latino stars whose passion and versatility as an actor puts him on the cutting edge of a growing trend common to both Spanish-speaking and American audiences.
“Los Beltrán,” which was produced by Columbia/Tri-Star Television for the Telemundo network, garnered two GLADD nominations and earned a NOSOTROS Golden Eagle Award for Outstanding Comedy Series. The show also won the National Council of La Raza’s Alma award, and an Imagen award for Best Comedy Series. “Los Beltrán” has been compared to other television shows on the forefront of social issues including ABC’s “Ellen” and NBC’s Emmy Award-winning “Will & Grace.”
Additionally, Romero has hosted E! Entertainment’s celebrity travel and vacation show FYE! featuring luxury destinations of the rich and famous. He has also served as master of ceremonies for FASHION WEEK of the AMERICAS in Miami, MODARTE and LATIN PRIDE in Los Angeles, and for several non-profit organizations like GLASS and BIENESTAR.
Romero’s film credits include “The Moment After,” an award winning film directed by Gerald McCullouch (CSI); “Blood Money,” with Alan Arkin; “The Father I Knew-The Michael Landon Story,” next to Sheryl Ladd, for CBS; “Silk Stalkings” with Stu Segall Productions; and the latest film by Temi Lopez (Chain of Desire) “Home: The Horror Story.” Romero’s voiceover talent can be heard in the PBS animated series “The Misadventures of Maya and Miguel,” the “Scarface” video game, and in commercial campaigns for Ford, Washington Mutual, US Army, Western Union, Sprint, Red Cross, and New Line Cinema’s Spanish movie trailers among others. He also studied and participated in directing, producing, lighting and sound design at USC where he earned a BFA in Theatre in 1993. Additionally, Romero was a stage management fellow at Arena Stage in Washington, D.C, and served as Artistic Director / Insctructor for Teatro Meta outreach program at the Old Globe Theatre in San Diego where he also assisted several directors, including Craig Noel and Spanish Repertory’s René Buch.
Born and raised in Mexico City, Romero’s artistic interests began at an early age when he learned to play the piano at 6 years old. In addition to training as a gymnast and dancer, Romero has a love for painting. He currently resides in Los Angeles.
