Alfred Fraijo, Jr.
Alfred Fraijo, Jr. is an associate in the Government Practice Group where he practices state and federal general land use and environmental law. His practice focuses on environmental review and permitting and local land use entitlement matters. Mr. Fraijo also works on Brownfield's development projects for both public and private sector clients.
Mr. Fraijo’s practice includes:
- advising clients on complex Brownfield’s redevelopment projects;
- obtaining and negotiating land use entitlements for cutting edge housing and commercial development projects throughout California;
- counseling clients regarding federal and state land use and environmental laws, including CERCLA, RCRA, Endangered Species Act, Clean Water Act, CEQA, California Superfund Law, and the Polanco Redevelopment Act;
- negotiating development agreements and other private-public contracts for housing and commercial projects; and
- counseling public and private sector clients on environmental agency enforcement matters, including CERCLA and Proposition 65 enforcement actions.
Mr. Fraijo’s pro bono activities include advocating for the redevelopment and revitalization of urban lands throughout California. His advocacy work includes partnerships with the Mexican American Legal Defense Fund, the California Center for Land Recycling and the Greenlining Institute.
Mr. Fraijo is admitted to practice in all California courts and in the District of Columbia. He is a member of several professional societies, including the California State Bar Association, the Mexican American Bar Association, the Los Angeles and San Francisco Bar Associations, and La Raza Bar Association. Mr. Fraijo also serves on the Board of Directors of several leading civil rights advocacy organizations, including the Greenlining Institute and La Raza Central Legal, a nonprofit legal services organization assisting Latino, indigenous, immigrant and low income communities of San Francisco and the greater Bay Area.
Mr. Fraijo received his J.D. from Loyola Law School in 2002, where he was a public interest scholar, an academic instructor and advisor for the Loyola Young Lawyers Program and member of Loyola’s nationally ranked National Hispanic Moot Court Team from 2001 to 2002. He received his B.A. in Political Science from Harvard University in 1999.
