SERGIO CARRILLO

Sergio Carrillo is a founding board member of Honor PAC and currently serves as the Board’s Vice President for Political Affairs.

Mr. Carrillo is a public affairs and strategic management executive with over 10 years of government experience at the state and local levels.  Mr. Carrillo advises corporations, nonprofits, and local governments on an array of governmental matters and legislative efforts.  He specializes in political outreach, political consulting, policy analysis, communication and media strategy, community relations, education, and planning and development issues, maintaining a specialty in the Southern California political environment.

Prior to joining the public advocacy firm of Ek & Ek, Mr. Carrillo was L.A. City Councilwoman Janice Hahn’s Director of Planning and Economic Development.  Mr. Carrillo served as the Councilwoman’s chief planner with oversight of all major planning, land use, transportation, housing, economic development and community development matters.  He served on the Community Action Board of the Community Development Department on behalf of Councilwoman Hahn.

Mr. Carrillo served as the district-wide representative for policy and regulatory inquiries relating to urban planning, building and safety, and engineering matters, such as permits and project entitlements for residential, commercial and industrial development.  He provided technical support to residents, property owners, and developers seeking entitlements from the City, and was a troubleshooter/advocate for projects large and small, once they were underway.

Mr. Carrillo also served as the Councilwoman’s liaison to the Port of Los Angeles while the Councilwoman served as Chair of the City Council’s Committee on Trade, Commerce and Tourism which had direct oversight of the Port of Los Angeles, Los Angeles World Airports, the Convention Center and L.A. Inc., the city’s convention and visitor’s Bureau .  Mr. Carrillo also served as the Councilwoman’s liaison to organized labor in Los Angeles County.

In addition to his professional work, Mr. Carrillo currently serves as an officer of the California Democratic Party serving as Regional Director for Region 17 which encompasses the 50th, 53rd, 54th and 55th Assembly Districts.  As Regional Director, Mr. Carrillo oversees the maintenance and development of the Party organization within his respective Region. 

In addition to his current role as Regional Director, Mr. Carrillo has been a delegate to the California Democratic Party convention every year since 1993.  Mr. Carrillo was also a delegate to the quadrennial nominating convention of the Democratic Party in 1996, 2000 and 2004.

In addition, Mr. Carrillo currently serves as a Vice-Chair of the Los Angeles County Democratic Party first elected to that position in 2006.  He was re-elected by his colleagues to a second 2-year term in 2008.

A resident of the Los Angeles Harbor Area, Mr. Carrillo spends many hours giving back to the community.  He is President of the Rotary Club of Wilmington, a member of the San Pedro Lodge of the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks, serves on the Boards of the Gang Alternatives Program (GAP), the San Pedro and Peninsula YMCA and is a founding board member of the Port of Los Angeles Charter High School for Maritime Studies and International Trade.  As a former Boys and Girls club kid, he is most proud to serve as a Vice President of the Boys and Girls Clubs of the Los Angeles Harbor which is the largest youth serving organization in the South Bay and Harbor Areas of Los Angeles.
