HONOR PAC Statement on SCOTUS Ruling LGBTQ+ Employee Rights

Friends,

This morning, June 15, 2020, as we celebrate Pride Month, the Supreme Court of the United States finally ruled that sexual orientation & gender identity are protected under Title VII of the Civil Rights Act! This is a major milestone in helping the LGBTQ+ community reach full equality in the United States of America. We need the U.S. Senate to pass the the Equality Act and ensure that LGBTQ+ people are fully protected in healthcare, adoption, foster care, and other federally funded programs.

We have to remember that the President has the ability to appoint judges to the Supreme Court and the U.S. Senate confirms the appointees. This election is about many things but a major one is the potential appointments of new judges and we have to fight like hell to make sure that the LGBTQ+ community is not discriminated against any longer. We all deserve the basic rights to love, liberty, and pursuit of happiness as Americans and contributors. Our LGBT rights are still hanging in the balance...your vote and voice can and will make a difference!

As always we must continue to use our collective voice and pressure our representatives to stand up for what is right - regardless of party. We must encourage others to be counted by participating in the 2020 US Census, register to vote, and exercise their right and privilege to vote. Each one of these actions create the momentum to a more inclusive and participatory society. They create America.
